EAGLE – Eagle County teens have now used 8,500 square feet of indoor space at Eagle Climbing + Fitness for three years.

Chambers Avenue celebrated Saturday for three years by doing the best it could – doing a big exit.

Approximately 160 contestants from Colorado and New Mexico visited the eagle on Saturday to compete in the USA Exit, the first regional qualifying event of the season at Bolding.

Over the past three years, Eagle Climbing + Fitness has hosted high school, college, championship, and regular USA exit events. Loads for western slope clubs.

USA exit events, then, have also improved significantly. With the emergence of the Olympic Games, participation and standards in domestic events have increased, says Larry Moore with Eagle Climbing + Fitness.

The gym employs Ben Ratbune, a Level 2 USA Climbing Routesetter, often used as a router for events. Judges record the event live from electronic phones or tablets. USA Climbing sends representatives to regional outreach competitions as regional coordinators and regulators. International standardized scores are now used, as well.

For Olympic or World Cup qualifiers, competitors register at both zoning points – in the middle of the altitude – and at the end of the altitude.

The Nile Valley Foundation’s annual Summer Mountain Games have hosted a rocky World Cup in the past and locals are familiar with the international system. In recent years, due to Kovid-19 precautions, the World Cup qualifiers have not been crowded with mountain people.

The USA exit has moved into the international scoring system as well as the regional competition on Eagle Climbing + Fitness on Saturday.

“In the past, there was nothing or nothing for the USA exit race. If you go up, you get points, but you don’t get any more points. At the World Cup in Ville for 12 years, ”said Moore. “And now the zone format is being applied to young competitors, even at a competent level.”

Moore said the pace is moving in the same direction before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

“Building with the Olympics is growing in popularity, the number of athletes wanting to go to regional championships is increasing, and those events are getting bigger and making it more challenging to host slides,” Moore said. .

Unbeatable format as well

Moore hosted Saturday’s event, the 45th edition of the USA Exit Competition, the first to use the zonal format and have representatives from the USA.

“It was good,” Moore said Saturday. “I was the one who enforced all the rules, so it’s a great relief to be able to answer questions directly from people who have left the USA.”

Events can be more scary than ever, and the best thing to do is to have a high school option for children, Moore said.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School Coach Dave Meyer argues that the American Scholarship is not about winning or sending children to the Olympics.

“The focus is on bringing all children together in a positive, supportive and connected way,” Meyer said. Because if it’s just about the person and the beating, you can do it in Climbing in the USA.

City series is coming soon

Moore says high school and USA exit options for both Eagle Climbing + Fitness kids and what Jim lacks at the moment are options for adult recreational young people who want to test their skills in competition.

“It’s the next one,” Moore said. “We’re working on a series of weekly events like kayaking or mountain biking.”

Meanwhile, Eagle Climbing + Fitness is celebrating its third year with a special customer appreciation until November 9th. People who want to join the gym can skip the $ 75 startup fee if they sign up on Wednesday or earlier, Moore said. Anyone who has been a member for one month or more during the third anniversary will be eligible for one month of free membership.

“The website says until Sunday but we have extended our real year to November 10,” Moore said.
