Gillian Hoover has changed.

Negative self-expression and self-limitation are outdated. Physically, mentally, emotionally – he lost weight.

“Many of the things I went through were emotional,” says Hoover. “Instead of the results, I had to learn how to believe in myself and the process. Often, we put these limits on ourselves and say, ‘I can’t do this.’ There is no regrets. ”

Hoover, a stay-at-home mom, is a former student at North Platt Community College. She has lost 67 pounds since she started exercising, and more importantly, she has regained her health, self-confidence and new self-esteem.

“I’m much healthier now than I was in high school,” says Hoover. “This is just to show that there is no limit to how far you can go.”

Hoover spent most of her life on the North Plateau. She went home to high school, and then went to North Platt Community College for further studies – earning a GED before enrolling in full-time 2010.

“My mother and sister were working there and I knew them well with the college,” Hoover said. “I know that I can get a good education at an affordable price. Going to the NPCC allowed me to stay home and save money as I continued my cleaning work. I really enjoyed my time at the college, and I was very good at it.

She also developed a love of English and writing at the NPCC and thought I would soon be working in the field. Life had other plans.

A.D. When he graduated in 2012, Hoover and his wife were expecting their first child.

“I went through the stage to receive my diploma and gave birth 10 days later,” Hoover said. “I became a stay-at-home mom, and soon I realized that I needed to change my lifestyle. After I finished high school, I did not worry too much about my health, and I weighed 65 pounds[65 kg].

She and her husband were in the military and engaged in hovering.

“I would go to college and come home and eat fast food,” Hoover said. “This was difficult in every aspect of my life – my self-confidence, my feelings – even the hard work because of the choices I made at the time.”

Having children took things seriously, and Hoover began to take better care of herself and her family.

Hoover laughed: “I wanted to be ‘healthy for mom.’ “This was my origin. At first everything was rare. I had no knowledge of diet or fitness, but when my daughter went to bed I started making YouTube videos at home. I ate peanut butter because I thought it had a lot of protein in it and I felt it was good for people. I ate K. I didn’t even like Special Ken.

She liked her feelings, even the slightest changes. Hoover began reading every article about nutrition and exercise. Sometimes she got misinformation and wholesale marketing. She did what she could to find the truth.

After her husband returned from work, Hoover was able to see his daughter running in the park. Eventually, she moved on to a high-intensity interval training.

“I was weak at first,” says Hoover. “I didn’t know exactly what my body wanted – just to move.”

Hoover had two more children in 2013 and 2016. At that time, she had a different perspective on working during pregnancy.

Hoover: “I realized that I would continue to move with my middle son. “I thought more about what I was eating, and I knew what was safe and what was not. I was healthy when my baby was born. I started losing weight while I was pregnant.

In the process of losing weight, Hoover developed a love for the human body and the science behind proper nutrition, building muscle and moving – not only to look good but also to feel happy and free of pain.

“It makes kids feel good about me,” Hoover said. “I had no idea what I was going to do with my body, and I didn’t want to take care of myself. Having that time for myself helps me to be more like a mother. I enjoy the clarity of mind that comes with giving my body what it needs. It has become something of a motherhood – it is no different.

When she started going to the gym four years ago, that feeling of success ignited.

Hoover said, “I was like a kid in a candy store looking at all the equipment. “I couldn’t believe what I was missing.”

As she went downstairs and built a muscle, others noticed. Hoover was certified as a personal trainer by the end of 2019 and had her first clients by 2020.

“A couple who went to my gym talked to me,” says Hoover. He wanted to know if I could train them. He said they were watching my change and were waiting for me to let them know that I was taking customers to help them.

Hoover has since expanded its clients, mostly verbally. She advertised her training services on her personal Facebook page and created a blog using the NPCC’s writing and persuasion skills. Website in action.

Over the summer, Hoover added a pain-free executive to her list of credentials. At the end of the year, the diet will be certified.

“My first goal was to be able to live with my children,” says Hoover. I feel like I have built a strong and healthy body for everyone, not just “mom”.

Her journey has become a family affair. Hoover’s children, now 9, 7 and 5 years old, enjoy exercising at home with her and are often motivated to work on their own.

Hoover said: “I hope they see what I have achieved and apply it to themselves. “I want them to see health as an investment for their future – not just from aesthetic point of view, but to make them feel better and go their way.”

She hopes that other mothers will join her story and find confidence and inspiration to improve their lives.

“I want all the mothers there to know that they are strong and that they can do whatever they want,” says Hoover. “There is no ‘recovery’ after pregnancy because that should not be the goal. The mother’s body did amazing things. He has a son. As mothers, we need to appreciate our bodies and see what they can do in the future. Going back is not the place I try to go. I will continue to push myself to the next level. ”
